Give Your Dishes a Facelift!

Check out what I did to my dishes!

Awhile ago, I fell in love with these bible verse dishes. Unfortunately, new dishes weren't in our budget...
That's when I discovered the coolest paint in the world! Pebeo Porcelaine 150 paints! You can get them at Michael's, and paint on your own dishes! Then you bake them in your own oven, and they're permanent! They're non-toxic, plus they're microwave, and dishwasher safe! You can get them in paint or marker form. (Can you tell by my excessive use of exclamation points that I really love these paints?!)

So I put bible verses around the edge of my existing dishes. It was very easy with the paint marker. It was just like I was writing it on with a sharpie or something. See? And I really love things that are hand written. It feels so personal! Plus, I got to pick my own bible verses!

Then I found this wall hanging I liked a lot, and wanted to make some pieces to match it.

So a few pieces (like this platter) I painted to match the wall hanging. The paints are a little translucent, so if you're going to paint on a colored dish I would suggest first painting it in white and then adding color over the top.

Yay for my "new" dishes!

Oh how fun!! I can't wait to see if our local craft stores carry that kind of paint!

What a neat way to get new dishes! Nice bird painting, too.

I have been wanting to paint some plates for a while now. I bought my supplies a few months ago, then got scared to actually put paint to plate. I think it is time to pull them out and just do it! Thanks for the reminder.

How fun!!! I need some of this!! Is it safe to eat on these plates afterwards or should they just be used for decoration?
